Cultural and Landscapes Heritages: Mobility, Fruition and Accessibility for all

2021

At such a delicate historical moment, in which the pandemic health emergency has reduced the mobility of citizens, a new resilient culture is affirming its capacity to encourage and guarantee the use of cultural and landscape assets for all. This study analyzes some international and national experiences that have already been implemented, or are at an advanced planning stage, which point to a new way of understanding the accessibility of places by users with specific needs and permits their visitation which was previously impossible. Our discussion will deal with Agrigento in particular: the city itself, the Valley of the Temples, its historical center and all the naturalistic treasures of…

Multi-model ensemble simulations of olive pollen distribution in Europe in 2014: current status and outlook

2017

"Çalışmada 29 yazar bulunmaktadır. Bu yazarlardan sadece Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi mensuplarının girişleri yapılmıştır” The paper presents the first modelling experiment of the European-scale olive pollen dispersion, analyses the quality of the predictions, and outlines the research needs. A 6-model strong ensemble of Copernicus Atmospheric Monitoring Service (CAMS) was run throughout the olive season of 2014, computing the olive pollen distribution. The simulations have been compared with observations in eight countries, which are members of the European Aeroallergen Network (EAN). Analysis was performed for individual models, the ensemble mean and median, and for a dynamically optimised c…

MACC regional multi-model ensemble simulations of birch pollen dispersion in Europe

2015

Abstract. This paper presents the first ensemble modelling experiment in relation to birch pollen in Europe. The seven-model European ensemble of MACC-ENS, tested in trial simulations over the flowering season of 2010, was run through the flowering season of 2013. The simulations have been compared with observations in 11 countries, all members of the European Aeroallergen Network, for both individual models and the ensemble mean and median. It is shown that the models successfully reproduced the timing of the very late season of 2013, generally within a couple of days from the observed start of the season. The end of the season was generally predicted later than observed, by 5 days or more…

The Area Of The Strait Reading Theories And Strategies For A Metropolitan Dimension

2016

Abstract Extending across a peninsular strip going from Gioia Tauro to Melito Porto Salvo on the Calabrian side, and from Milazzo to Giardini Naxos on the Sicilian side, the Strait of Sicily sees theAspromonte massif and the Peloritani mountain range as two facing stage sets of land sketching in the gulf a water piazza of a landscaping room. Described in the proposal by Giuseppe and Alberto Samona, Ludovico Quaroni, Antonio Quistelli, Sergio Musmeci, Paolo D’Orsi Villani and Leonardo Urbani, it outlines, in the county seats of Reggio Calabria and Messina, the prevalence of a Euclidean space, identifiable in the exact metrics given by the recurrence of the measuring step of the blocks drawn …

The environmental benefits of carsharing: The case study of Palermo

2020

Abstract The problems related to traffic emissions are becoming increasingly pressing and serious, especially in big cities where the private car plays the main role in the mobility of people, being excessively used, while walking, cycling and the use of public transport are often seen as secondary options and are hampered by a poorly urban environment. Therefore, solutions must be found to reduce the number of cars circulating in the city and to support the most sustainable modes of transport at the same time, in order to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and harmful substances. A modal alternative which is of undoubted interest could be represented by carsharing, which is a mode comple…

Urban smart mobility in the scientific literature — bibliometric analysis

2018

Abstract This article aims at identification of the main trends in scientific literature characterising urban smart mobility, on the basis of bibliometric analysis of articles published in the ISI Web of Science and Scopus databases. The study period was set from 2000 to 2017. Authors used a basic technique of the bibliometric analysis of the scientific literature characterising urban smart mobility with the support of the VOSviewer software. The analysis included the number of publications, citation analysis, research area analysis and the most frequent keywords. The analysis led to taking notice of current research trends dealing with the urban smart mobility. The core of the paper is a t…

Using concept mapping in the development of the EU-PAD framework (EUropean-Physical Activity Determinants across the life course): a DEDIPAC-study

2016

International audience; Background: A large proportion of European children, adults and older adults do not engage in sufficient physical activity ( PA). Understanding individual and contextual factors associated with PA behaviours is essential for the identification and implementation of effective preventative environments, policies, and programmes that can promote an active lifestyle across life course and can potentially improve health. The current paper intends to provide 1) a multi-disciplinary, Pan-European and life course view of key determinants of PA behaviours and 2) a proposal of how these factors may cluster. Methods: After gathering a list of 183 potential PA behaviours-associa…

Mobilità urbana e topografia: quattro progetti per Petralia Sottana

2013

Urban mobility and topography:four projects for Petralia Sottana. Many villages on the Madonie mountains share some material and non-material conditions: a complex articulation of the territorial altimetry, which often generates extraordinary landscape sites; a widespread population decrease (up to 50% in the last decades); the increasing relocation of inhabitants from the historical centre to peripheral areas; the difficult conciliation of both private and public traffic with the historical urban context; a deficit in the natural cycle of substitution and renovation of historical buildings and of public spaces. Four urban projects have been elaborated by the department of Architecture of Pa…

In situ, satellite measurement and model evidence on the dominant regional contribution to fine particulate matter levels in the Paris megacity

2015

International audience; Published by Copernicus Publications on behalf of the European Geosciences Union. 9578 M. Beekmann et al.: Evidence for a dominant regional contribution to fine particulate matter levels Abstract. A detailed characterization of air quality in the megacity of Paris (France) during two 1-month intensive campaigns and from additional 1-year observations revealed that about 70 % of the urban background fine particulate matter (PM) is transported on average into the megacity from upwind regions. This dominant influence of regional sources was confirmed by in situ measurements during short intensive and longer-term campaigns, aerosol optical depth (AOD) measurements from E…
